Now this is a made-for-TV love story if we’ve ever heard one! A homeless dog met his true love outside of a hotel – and he waited for her until she adopted him.

You see her across a crowded street.

She comes your way, and you coyly flirt, basking in the attention she is giving you.

Her impact on your lonely street life was so large that you knew she was the one.

And you waited for her. Every single time she left.

Such was the story of a homeless street dog from Argentina. German flight attendant Olivia Sievers traveled to Argentina often for work, and when there on one such business trip, came across a scruffy street dog who seemed to soak up the small amount of food and attention she showed him before she headed on to her hotel for the evening.

That small bit of affection shown was enough to convince the pup that he might have met, “The One,” and he followed Sievers back to her hotel, despite her attempts to try and convince him not to follow her. Sievers told the folks at Argentinian television Channel 13, “I tried to change my way because I didn’t want [him to] follow me back to the hotel, but it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention.”

He was so happy with that attention that he decided they were meant to be together, and decided where ever she was, he would be also.

Or try to be.

Since he wouldn’t budge from the hotel entrance, Sievers decided to dub him, “Rubio” (which means ‘blonde’ in Spanish) and tuck him in with an airline blanket in hopes of at least helping him to keep warmer at night. She then went on with her life… flying in and out of various cities.

So imagine her surprise when she returned to the hotel in Argentina! There waited Rubio, as if she’d told him to, “Stay!” while she ran a quick errand.

In actuality, it had been several weeks since she’d last left him after their first ‘date,’ and he’d waited for her all that time. It seemed as if he knew he wanted to be with her always, and her hotel was as close as he’d been able to get himself positioned.

The manager of the hotel kindly kept an eye out for him, but it was obvious that a loyal and dedicated pup like Rubio needed a forever family. Though Sievers loved rendezvousing with Rubio when she was in town, she worked with a local rescue group to help Rubio be adopted and finally have a place to call home.

Unfortunately, no one consulted Rubio about this plan, and he not only escaped from his newly adopted family, but… you guessed it! He ran right back to the hotel, waiting patiently for his beloved.

And so, not being able to deny the love affair any longer, Sievers went about the business of arranging all the paperwork needed to have Rubio officially become hers and to bring him to his forever home with her in Germany.

Last week, Rubio was taken to Germany, no longer to wait for Sievers outside of her hotel. Instead, she was waiting at his new home for him, and it’s very clear he’s where he’s always belonged.
