As if you needed another reason to simply adore Neil Patrick Harris, he’s adopted the cutest little stray ever. Join us in a collective swoon!

Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka, have added to their family! They are already the parents of adorable six-year-old twins Gideon and Harper, and the whole dog-loving family has added a sweet little stray they named Gidget to their brood!

Burtka posted the cutest pictures on his Instagram yesterday and it’s pretty safe to say that Gidget fits right in that adorable family. Gidget has a unique back-story, even for a stray. She was rescued from the streets of Thailand, where being a stray is a heartbreaking and grueling way of life. The North Shore Animal League worked in conjunction with Project Street Dog Thailand to get Gidget into the states, and the rest was pretty much history. North Shore Animal League celeb volunteer and avid animal rights activist Beth Stern hooked NPH and family up with Gidget, knowing she’d be the perfect fit for their fab four.

North Shore Animal League senior manager of rescues Cindy Szczudlo said that the organization has been working with Project Street Dog Thailand since May to save the poor street dogs in Thailand and that Gidget was a rescue recently brought in a few weeks ago. Saying she had such a playful, friendly and affectionate temperament, Szczudlo could not compliment Gidget enough, and this was what sealed the deal for Stern, who knew that Neil and David were looking for a dog to adopt and make part of their family.

Based on the glowing faces of their children in Burtka’s instagram post, we’d have to think that Stern knew exactly what she was doing and found the perfect dog for them. Congrats, Gidget! You’ve done alright for yourself!
