Feeling a bit naughty? Is your dog a little devil? Sometimes you have to let loose and let your inner devil come out… in the way of homemade dog treats! And even though our Devilish Pumpkin and Apple Dog Treats sound wicked, they’re really not. These nom noms are packed with goodness – pureed pumpkin is wonderful for your dog’s digestion, and a fresh apple is a good source of fiber as well as vitamin A and C.


Devilish Pumpkin And Apple Dog Treat Recipe

Makes 40 treats


Ingredients:


3 cups whole wheat flour


1/2 cup ground flax seeds


1 cup pumpkin puree


1 teaspoon cinnamon


1 apple, shredded


1 egg


1/4 cup olive oil


1/4 cup water


Directions:


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix pumpkin puree and egg. Add in oil, water and shredded apple, and stir until well combined.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, flax seeds, and cinnamon. Add wet mixture to dry. Mix until a stiff dough forms.
  4. Roll out dough to about 1/4″ thick onto a floured surface. Cut into desired shapes and place treats on lined sheet pans.
  5. Bake for about 40 minutes or until light golden.
  6. Place on cooling rack for 2-4 hours. Store in fridge or freezer in airtight container.
