Amy Tokic, Editor of PetGuide.com, is a passionate animal lover and proud pet parent of Oscar, a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua cross, and Zed, a Japanese Chin. Her love of animals began in kindergarten, when she brought her stuffed dog Snoopy into class with her every day. Now, she writes about her adventures in pet ownership and tirelessly researches products, news and health related issues she can share with other animal enthusiasts. In her free time, Amy loves perusing used book and record stores, obsessing over the latest pet products available and chasing squirrels with wild abandon (a habit attributed to spending too much time with Oscar). You can always find her on FacebookTwitter, Instagram and Pinterest, connecting with other pet parents and animal aficionados.

Lori Ennis is a lover of all animals (well, except snakes, but don’t hold that against her—seriously, don’t get one near her!). She and her family have fostered golden retrievers for years, and have been rescued by many a dog adopted into her family. There’s not much more that she likes to do than watch videos of kittens and puppies chasing their tails and she has a heart for any organization that works tirelessly to find all animals their forever homes.

She is a career military spouse, moving all over the country with her husband John, son Luke and high-strung but lovable puppy Lilly Pepper. She recently lost her beloved golden retriever of 12-years to cancer, and when their hearts heal a bit more, plan to bring another puppy into their family because she believes the more dogs, the merrier.

A graduate of Radford University and Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) she was an elementary school teacher in a former life. Lori realized that writing about dogs and cats was pretty fantabulous too, though and as a freelance writer, also works with publications like Mothering, Still Standing Magazine and The Daily Mom Military.

Still, Lori’s passion is for pets of all kinds, and she never gets tired of hearing and writing about the stories of our most loyal and faithful friends. She considers herself pretty much a hot mess on most every day, but that’s why she loves animals—they never judge us for being so.

In her free time, she loves to read and put bows in her dog’s hair. It’s a fair trade, though, because she also loves to make homemade dog food so the dog thinks it’s worth it!

A proud mama to seven dogs and ten cats, Angela spends her days writing for her fellow pet parents and pampering her furballs, all of whom are rescues. When she’s not gushing over her adorable cats or playing with her dogs, she can be found curled up with a good fantasy book.

Kate Naito, CPDT-KA, is a dog trainer at Doggie Academy in Brooklyn, NY, and author of the training book, “BKLN Manners.” She draws upon her experience as an educator and dog trainer to apply positive training techniques to a challenging urban environment. Kate is a rescue advocate drawn to special-needs dogs and currently has two Chihuahua mixes, Batman and Beans.

Mary Simpson is a writer and communications professional from Port Credit, Ontario. A soft touch for anything stray, she shares her century home with an eclectic collection of rescues that include orange tabby Chico, tuxedo Simon, and jet black Owen. She enjoys running, politics, exploring the wine regions of Niagara and is an avid supporter of the “shop local” movement.

Kevin Roberts lives for adventure. Together with his pack of rescue dogs and his husband, he spends as much time outdoors as possible. Kevin lives by the motto: “Get outside and play with your dogs!”

Kate Barrington is the loving owner of two cats (Bagel and Munchkin) and a noisy herd of guinea pigs. Having grown up with golden retrievers, Kate has a great deal of experience with dogs but labels herself a lover of all pets. Having received a Bachelor’s degree in English, Kate has combined her love for pets and her passion for writing to create her own freelance writing business, specializing in the pet niche.

Lisa Selvaggio is a freelance writer and editor, and our resident cats-pert. An advocate for better treatment of all animals, she enjoys producing content that educates others, helps them understand animals better, and inspires them to help, whether that means volunteering at a shelter, fostering strays, or simply giving their own pets a safe and happy home to live in.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Lisa volunteered in animal shelters, a wildlife rehabilitation center, and a farm animal sanctuary. Her primary focus, however, was in cat rescue, and she loved the time she got to spend with kitties of all ages who were looking for their forever home. Because of her interest in holistic medicine and nutrition, she began researching holistic care for pets, and she became certified in canine nutrition, feline nutrition, and clinical pet nutrition.

Lisa has been writing cat care articles for PetGuide for several years, and she has covered a wide range of topics, from how to go about fostering kitties in need and the importance of adoption, to feline nutrition, health, behavior, and environmental enrichment. Beyond that, she has also contributed a number of breed descriptions, and she has interviewed experts in the pet care field, such as veterinarians and foster parents, to help share even more helpful tips for pet parents who want to give their fur babies the very best.

Aside from her work at PetGuide, Lisa has ghostwritten myriad pet related articles for both print and web for clients from around the world. Her bylined articles can be found on Udemy.com and AllPetNews.com, as well as in past issues of Pet Lovers Centre Magazine, as a few examples.
