A Bulldog Is The Best Sister A Little Girl Can Have

Adora-bull photographs portray the special bond of a canine and human sisterhood

For some kids, a dog is a sibling. Case in point: Harper and her Bulldog, Lola. The two have grown up together for the past four years, and mom and photographer Rebecca Leimbach has documented the relationship in a series of adora-bull photographs.

Although Rebecca and her husband wanted a large family, it just wasn’t it the cards. To make up for a human sibling, Harper grew up with Lola, a cuddly Bulldog who enjoys being dressed up, sharing bath times and will gladly crawl into bed during naps. We’ve featured a few of the photographs here, but more can be seen on Rebecca’s Facebook page.

And even though Rebecca has struggled with infertility, Lola helped her come to terms with the guilt she felt that Harper didn’t have a little brother or sister to play with. “Realizing that Lola was helping to fill that void has helped me to embrace what is right in front of me,” she said. “They are pretty amazing together, they really do love each other.” Just one more reason why dogs really are part of our family!
