The Trust For Public Land has released rankings for Dog Parks across the United States, and Boise, Idaho tops the list of Top Cities for dog parks!

Dog Parks are becoming more and more popular, and a must-have community when potential homebuyers are looking for their perfect place. As homebuyers survey communities in search of the perfect place to live, they look at things like school districts, conveniences, tax rates, and…dog parks.

Yes, dog parks! According to the Trust For Public Land’s annual Dog Park Rankings, pet parks are becoming more and more a norm of communities, with ever-increasing numbers through the years.

In the 100 biggest metro areas, there are 774 dog parks, which is an increase of almost 5% from last year’s numbers, and an increase of 40% since 2009, which is when the trust began taking note. In its analysis, the trust claims that dog parks are part of the fastest-growing amenities in the 100 largest U.S. cities’ park systems.

And interestingly, Boise, Idaho tops the list. Ralph McLaughlin is a former chief economist with Trulia and said that home builders and local governments are aware that their residents want amenities like dog parks. He says they may help keep market value in neighborhoods higher than in those without, and this shows places like Boise have booming markets.

According to Daren Blomquist, who is the senior vice president of real-estate data provider Attom Data Solutions said that cities with the highest density of dog parks are the ones with some of the most incredible housing markets in the country. He says that of the top ten, at least half of the cities also rank in the top 50 across the country for highest-home price increases. He says that these are the markets that are moving fast, and he believes a large part of that is that people want dog-friendly environments.
