Life’s a Beach For These Wave-Catching Pups!
Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch, a no-kill shelter operating in the Jupiter/Tequesta, Florida area is hosting their 2nd Annual Hang 20 Surf Classic and there is sure to be plenty of cowabunga fun in the sun!
Furry Friends hopes to top last year’s epic event, at which over 2000 people showed up and several dogs were looking to catch some ‘gnarly’ waves. If Man’s Best Friend climbing the waves doesn’t make your day totally tubular, dude, we don’t know what will!

Last year’s event raised money for the shelter, which, according to president Pat Deshong, always helps all shelters at this time of year, but more, was more just to see families come out with their pets and enjoy the afternoon at the beachfront park.
This year’s event, which will be on August 27 at the Carlin Park Beachfront in Jupiter, will feature about 25 dogs from across the country, all ready to hit the waves for a great cause. A (furry) family event for sure, there will be live music, kids activities, food, shopping and much more! All proceeds will go to Furry Friends, which promotes adoption over buying from pet shops. Furry Friends hopes that the Hang 20 Classic will help dogs find their furever homes, and will raise awareness of the myriad of breeds available for adoption from shelters all over the country, as well as local surf legends like Good Boy (a Jack Russell Terrier) and Buddy (a Boston Terrier mix), both of whom will be up for adoption.
The classic will feature four different heats (small, medium and large dog as well as a stand-up surfboard heat) and there’s one thing for sure…whether you ‘Hang 10’ (or 20!), the surf’s gonna be up this weekend, and if you’re local, you should check it out!
As for us? We are mega-stoked to see some adorable pups…no waves, no glory!
