Robert De Niro threw Jimmy Fallon for a loop recently on the Tonight Show, leading him to believe he had no idea what a ‘dog’ was. (As if!)

It’s no secret that Robert De Niro is a good actor. Such a good actor, actually, that he recently led Jimmy Fallon to believe he had never seen or heard of a dog before.

Deniro was promoting the Tribeca Film Festival, which is celebrating it’s 17th anniversary this year. In 2002, De Niro co-founded the festival with film producer Jane Rosenthal.

Cameras followed Fallon and De Niro through the hallways of Rockefeller Center, and viewers got a laugh when the pair stopped in front of a very adorable labradoodle in the midst of a few people just hanging out in the hallway.

De Niro looks genuinely puzzled to see the pup, asking Fallon what that fuzzy thing was. Fallon can’t believe that De Niro doesn’t know what a ‘dog’ is, and as De Niro does best, he doesn’t budge a second from a character who is clueless about dogs. Or who doesn’t trust animals “that lay eggs.”

We cracked up when he references a ‘cat betrayal,’ (think ‘Meet the Fockers,’) and the end will make you spit your sweet tea out with laughter! I mean, when De Niro uses air quotes? Epic!
