It’s always heartbreaking when our pets cross the Rainbow Bridge. Just ask mega star Barbra Streisand, whose beloved Coton de Tulear Samantha recently died.

Barbra Streisand is known for her amazing voice, her diva style and attitude and her love of her best girl. Samantha, her 14-year-old Coton de Tulear passed died recently, cradled in her mama’s arms.

The singer/actress posted a candid picture of her and ‘Sammie’ taken by her son Jason on her Instagram account, saying that the shot taken on Mother’s Day this year was the last time she took a picture with her beloved girl. Streisand and husband James Brolin were known to dote on Sammie, taking her most places they went and indulging her in the life of luxury they knew she deserved. She calls Sammie the daughter she never had and constantly insisted that Sammie could speak and understand English!

Last October, Babs asked her followers to pray for Sammie as she was undergoing surgery that was later canceled. Whether Sammie’s death is related to that surgery or not is still unknown.

What is known, though, is that Streisand adored Sammie and plastered social media with her pictures regularly. On May 21, Streisand wished her ‘dear little Sammie’ a happy 14th birthday and told her fans that she cherishes every day of the last 14 years she’s been able to share with Samantha.

We send her our most heartfelt sympathies and love.
