Please say hello to Amstel, our Adoptable Dog of the Week from Adoptapet.com. Amstel is a Shiba Inu Mix from New York City, NY. He is already neutered, housetrained, and up to date with shots.

Amstel’s Story

Amstel is a 10 year old Shiba Inu Mix that weighs about 40 pounds. Amstel needs to find a new home as his current owners are no longer able to care for him because they are paying for a daily dog-walker and regular boarding.

Amstel is calm, loving and protective. He interacts well with people he knows, and is described as exceptionally loving toward his people. He can be protective of his people when approached by strangers outside of the home. He tolerates children and being picked up, but Amstel would probably prefer a home that didn’t have small kids.

As far as Amstel’s interest in other dogs, he enjoys playing with other dogs his size and will pretty much ignore smaller dogs. But Amstel is no slouch and will stand his ground with other dogs that he feels are threatening him. He is fine being groomed and knows basic commands.
