If you like a challenge, you’ll love this feisty fella! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Bandit, a 2 years old Blue Heeler and Australian Shepherd mix, which means he’s eager to work and full of energy. Bandit is neutered, current on his shots, and in the process of housetraining. He needs a home without any small animals, so no cats, rabbits, and the like. He does well with playful dogs and older kids.

Bandit’s Tale

A working dog through and through, Bandit will need to have a job at hand to thrive. He needs an active owner, someone who’s experienced and has enough patience to help him go through some basic training. He’s been an outside dog in his previous life, so he’s still learning how to walk on a leash and how to be on his best behavior when inside the house. Luckily, he’s a smart one so he’s doing great! Either way, Bandit would do best in a home with a big backyard or a farm, where he could get to herd other animals, or at least play fetch and roam around.

Bandit is great with kids, but they need to be older as he tends to herd the little ones. He also does well with other dogs but they need to be as active and energetic as he is, so he’d do better with younger dogs or another working breed. As for cats, Bandit is not a match for feline-friendly households: he has a strong prey drive so no small animals in his new home.

In case you need someone to be by your side and share every adventure, Bandit is the guy for you. To learn more about him and how you could be the one to adopt him, contact Aberdeen Area Humane Society for more info.
