We bet you’re all ears to hear about Gelsey, our Adoptable Dog of the Week! An American Staffordshire Terrier mix from Burlington, New Jersey, this young lady sports big ears and a big heart. Gelsey is spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Gelsey’s Tale:

My name is Gelsey – I’m 2.5 years old and looking for a home to call my own.

My life started out in NC, where I went by the name of Fatfat. My family kept me outside all day tied to a tree. This was frustrating for a pup my age. The next door neighbor tried to take me away since he did not like seeing that. Then next thing I knew I was at a loud place with other dogs called a shelter. Jericho’s Wish had a foster come get me and I was so happy.

I love playing with other dogs, playing fetch (still learning that I need to give it back), car rides, walks, and belly rubs. I don’t mind cats. I have lots of energy to run around with you outside but I do know how to be calm in the house. I love chewing on rope toys. I am crate trained but sometimes need to be guided in with a treat. Not that I dislike it, I would rather be by you. Once I’m in there, I will take a nap. I love people and giving kisses. I do tend to be a little mouthy sometimes. Not that I would ever hurt you, that’s not in me to do so. I’m house trained just show me which door to use. I also know sit, come and stay.

My dislikes: Vacuums! I think it’s coming after me, so I make sure it knows not to come after me. I bark and try to bite it.
