Let’s face it. We’ve had a lot of together time with our doggos this year and that’s been a great thing. Even better, we’ve learned we love having them with us 24/7, and great dog carriers can make that even easier.

So, just exactly what should you look for in a dog carrier? As the last year has definitely given us the opportunity to integrate our dogs in our everyday lives more than ever, dog carriers are must-haves. Many of the activities we’ve been engaging in have been exploring the outdoors, and doggos of course go wild for those adventures.

And that’s why a quality dog carrier is key. Whether you’re hitting your local lawn and garden center to do some weekend landscaping, or taking a trip on the trails to get out and get some fresh air, a premium dog carrier that maximizes your dog’s (and your comfort) will make the time spent together even sweeter.

The reality is that our dogs also help keep us healthy and even extend our longevity. The more comfortable we feel doing things with our dogs, the more we’ll do, and that’s a win-win for us and our dogs. A great carrier will give your dog a comfortable place to hang (literally) while also offering you space to keep their things easily accessible.

What To Look For In A Dog Carrier?

When you’re thinking about the best dog carriers, the most important thing you need to do is get the deets on your dog. A good fit depends on how well measure your dog for weight, shoulder height, chest circumference. Don’t even bother considering anything that isn’t vet-approved and ergonomically designed. Most importantly, you’ll want something easy to use and not intimidating for your dog. The easier it is to use and wear, and the less uncomfortable your dog is with it, the more you’ll use and enjoy it!

One of our favorite dog carrier companies is K9 Sport Sack. Their motto? Never Leave Your Dog Behind, and we’re all about it.

We’ve shared about two of our faves– The Rover and The Trainer. Both are pretty amazing and dog parents love their comfort, ease and bonding powers.

Now, we’re super excited to share about their newest dog carrier, the Knavigate. The folks at K9 Sport Sack have been working on this baby for the last few years and they’ve added features that will make carrying your dog more comfortable and safer than ever before.

True to who they are and what they do, the Knavigate has a strong internal frame and is available in sizes from XS-XL. It’s perfect for dogs between 2-50 pounds, but the new, long-awaited feature is the hip belt for smaller and medium-sized dogs.

With thousands of reviews across the web raving about the durability, ease of use, and features of their current carriers, one request has been made more than any other: “The K9 Sport Sack NEEDS a hipbelt!”. While another model equipped with a hip belt has been available for the last year, it was created for much bigger dogs weighing up to 80 pounds, making it unusable for customers with small to medium sized dogs.

Their Product Development team tried simply adding a hip belt to our current models but found it didn’t work as they had hoped. When the extra small to medium sized carriers are worn correctly, they end up being very high on the wearer’s back. The hip belt ends up positioned above the wearer’s hips and cannot provide the support needed. The Knavigate was created to be able to give the wearer the hip support they need while also coming in smaller sizes.

And we are SUPER excited to be offering one lucky reader the opportunity to win one of the Knavigates!
