Butternut Squash Soup Recipe for Dogs

Makes 8-10 cups

1 medium butternut squash, peeled, seeded and diced

2 cups water

1 cup low-sodium broth (vegetable, chicken or beef)

1 carrot, peeled and diced

1 apple, cored and diced

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 clove garlic, peeled and minced (optional)

In a large pot, heat water and broth to a boil, then turn down heat to simmer.

Add butternut squash, apple, carrot, garlic, and cinnamon. Cover with lid and simmer for 45 minutes, until squash is tender.

Allow to cool sufficiently, and use blender to smooth. Add 1 cup of soup to the blender at a time, to ensure that all the pieces are blended.

Serve warm or cold. Keep in fridge or freezer until needed.
