A four-legged brainiac with a heart of gold- this pooch will pleasantly surprise you! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Loki, a 6 years old American Pit Bull Terrier mix from Columbus, Mississippi. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped. Loki does well with respectful kids but needs to be in a household where he would be an only pet.

Loki hasn’t had the best past- he was rescued from a bad situation, but even though he has been down on his luck, Loki blossomed in the care of his rescuers. His true personality shined through once he had the chance to live in a healthy environment! A very smart cookie, Loki is also very food motivated, so there’s no saying what he could learn with a patient owner: willing to work for food and with the brains to back it, the sky’s the limit. In addition to having an impressive IQ, Loki also has a big heart to match it and will shower you with affection if you let him. Belly rubs and cuddles galore!

A sweet and fun guy, Loki does great with kids. However, he is a big guy: weighing 46 pounds, he might not be the right choice for families with young kids he could inadvertently knock over during playtime. He does not get along well with other dogs or cats, so for Loki, an ideal family would be one where he’s the only furbaby to speak of. Pampered and treasured like he deserves, of course!

In case you’ve been charmed by this adorable fella (and who could blame you), contact Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, Inc. to learn more about him and the requirements for his adoption. If you’re lucky, you might get to call this charmer your new four-legged family member!
