Are you looking for a loving and affectionate dog that is sure to bring laughter to your home? If so, this goofy girl may be your perfect match! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Gladdy, a 1-year-old American Pitbull Terrier and Basset Hound mix. She currently lives with her foster family in Detroit, MI, where she is waiting patiently to meet her forever family. Gladdy is good with other dogs and dog-savvy cats. She can be a little over-excitable and would be best suited for a family with kids over 5.

Gladdy’s Tale

Gladdy was discovered initially lying on the side of the road. Her rescuer checked with the homes in the neighborhood where she was found, but no one recognized the sweet girl. Luckily for her, the rescue organization Home FurEver stepped in to give her a well-deserved second chance. Based on her appearance, they guessed her breed, but she may be part Corgi with her short, stubby legs.

At such a young age, Gladdy is still very much in the puppy stage of her life. She is playful and athletic, needing daily exercise and interactions. She is treat-motivated, which is a powerful tool when it comes to working on her training and obedience. She is currently working on her potty training as well as learning proper manners (including not jumping on people when she’s excited). Gladdy will need a family willing to stay dedicated to her training moving forward. She is also a chewer and will need to be provided with heavy-duty chew toys to keep her from chewing on something that she shouldn’t.

If you are looking for a dog that will bring a little joy and happiness into your life, this girl has you covered. Her goofy personality is sure to keep everyone laughing. Gladdy’s foster family seriously considered keeping this sweet girl, but one of the resident dogs in the home wasn’t 100% on board. So, they have made the difficult decision to let her go to allow her to find a home where she can thrive.

If Gladdy sounds like she would be a great addition to your family, contact Home FurEver for more information.
