Adoptable Dog of the Week – Cielo

Are you searching for a lap dog that will soak up all the love and attention you have to offer while keeping up with your high-energy lifestyle? If so, this sweet boy may be the perfect balance! Cielo is a 5-year-old purebred Australian Shepherd currently waiting for his forever home in Orlando, Florida. Included with the cost of his adoption fee, Cielo will be neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and current on his flea and tick prevention.

Cielo’s Tale

Before being rescued, Cielo spent his whole life living outdoors. During his time in the care of Australian Shepherds Furever, he has been given the opportunity to experience life indoors with all the love and affection he deserves. But this sweet and loving boy will need a home that will continue to work with him as he goes through this transitionary phase.

One struggle that he has, due to his past, is that he can be reactive with boundaries, like the front door or the fence around his yard. He is muzzle trained but will also need to be taught not to jump, bark, and growl in response to someone approaching these boundaries. Cielo is an incredibly intelligent and trainable dog. He has learned his basic obedience commands, how to walk okay on a leash (but this will need more work), and how to use the potty bells on the door if he needs to go to the bathroom.

Cielo would do best in a home with previous Australian Shepherd experience. He is a higher-energy boy who will need mental and physical enrichment to keep him busy and entertained. Otherwise, he may become destructive when he gets bored. He loves his Squishmallow toys and blankets but shouldn’t be left alone with them as he often chews holes in them when unsupervised.

While he will need someone willing to put time and effort into his training, Cielo has the potential to be an incredible dog for the right family!
