Adoptable Dog of the Week- Gumbo
Big, goofy, and always happy to see you, this pooch will brighten your day! Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Gumbo, a 4 years old Labrador Retriever and Coonhound mix from Dayton, Ohio. He is neutered and will be microchipped and up to date with his vaccines before his adoption. Gumbo is a sweet dog but it would be best if he meets any pets in his new family to see if they get along.
Gumbo was taken from a high-kill shelter and he’s looking for a forever home and his second chance at a happy life. And boy does he deserve one! This pooch is the silliest, most loving doggo you’ll meet. Gumbo is so goofy and his fun personality will make you laugh every day! He’s always excited to spend time with his humans and would be a great walking partner for someone who loves to take in the sights as he will be following his nose and probably stop frequently to sniff around. His new adopters should also be aware that he is a large dog and will need a bit more space and has more strength than most.
He is currently undergoing training with the Dayton Dog Training Club and has started picking up new skills – he knows basic commands and is learning to walk nicely on the leash. With the right people by his side, he would really blossom into a marvelous dog. As there’s no record of his past in the shelter, his rescuers recommend he meets any potential pet roommates in his new home just to see if they get along well.
If you think that Gumbo sounds like a dreamboat, contact the Humane Society of Greater Dayton to learn more about him and how you can adopt him. Fingers crossed – he’s really one special doggo!
A proud mama to seven dogs and ten cats, Angela spends her days writing for her fellow pet parents and pampering her furballs, all of whom are rescues. When she's not gushing over her adorable cats or playing with her dogs, she can be found curled up with a good fantasy book.
