New Jersey Pooch Palace On Sale For $14.9 Million

Have you got an extra million dollars (or 14.9, to be exact) to throw around and you happen to be a huge dog lover? There’s a castle in New Jersey with your name all over it!

Okay, so the term “dog house” just took on a whole new meaning down in New Jersey where a pricey palatial mansion – complete with a wing for the pooches – is on the block for $14.9 million. Seriously, it’s a steal… in 2012, it was listed for $19 million before undergoing a few price cuts before being removed from the market a year ago.

It seems the cosmetic dentist owner and her doctor hubby decided dogs Prada, Fendi, and Emilio Pucci (what, no Ralph, Calvin, or Hugo?) needed to have their own space so two of the 24 rooms in the mansion have been turned over to the fur kids. There is a grooming room with a bathtub and automatic doggie door that releases the (methinks smallish) hounds onto the 4.5 acre gated property. Of course cat Gucci has her own room, complete with luxury bed, oodles of toys, and a door that connects her to the master suite – should she decide to be in the mood for a cuddle.

The “Versailles-like” abode includes about 25,000 square feet of living space, seven bedrooms, marble floors , an indoor pool, a kazillion chandeliers, blah, blah, blah. You get the picture. Where I cry foul, is with all this space, why are the dogs sharing? I’m not hearing the words “en suite” when describing their sleeping accommodations, let alone closets (or even storage) for the seasonal wardrobes I’m assuming they must have. And poor Gucci. No cat appreciates a connecting door that allows any one and his brother to enter her room while she’s doing the stuff cats do – licking, grooming, hacking up a fur ball.

I’m hopeful that whoever pulls out their wallet for these digs is going to rethink the current set-up and give their pooches the respect that seemed to elude poor Prada, Fendi, Pucci, and Gucci.
