With a look like that, you can’t help but wonder what Carlton, our Adoptable Dog of the Week, is thinking about. Whatever it is, we don’t care – that face just melts our hearts! Carlton is a 2-year-old male small Terrier mix from Washington, D.C. He’s neutered, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and good with dogs.

Carlton’s Story:

Carlton the Terrier mix is protective, affectionate, eager to please, shy, quiet, loyal and calm.

He is looking for his new best friend – a person he can dedicate all of his loyalty to and who will give him the structure and comfort he needs to gain confidence. Carlton was found as a stray. We don’t know what led to his scary time alone or what he faced before that. He needs a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he forms strong bonds and is totally devoted, especially to his favorite lady. He has done well at the dog park with dogs his size or smaller and is fine with polite larger dogs. Inside his timid shell is a heart of gold. With love, patience, consistency and training, Carlton will blossom into your faithful, happy little buddy.
