Teaching dogs new tricks (even the old ones) is a great thing–particularly when they help you when you’re locked out of your house. Check out this lab who helped his human when she was locked out of her house.

So, it’s a trick you only want your dog to do for you, for sure–but it’s a good one! Instagram and Facebook user Kaylyn Marie locked herself out of her house when she went into her back patio. She’d shut the sliding glass door, but the ‘charlie bar,’ (A bar stuck in the track of sliding glass doors to prevent people from breaking in) slid back in the track and left Kaylyn stuck.

She figured she’d have to wait until someone could help, and she saw her good boy Sam on the other side of the glass, wistfully wishing he could be with his owner.

Turns out, he could. Kaylyn coaxed her pup to paw away at the bar in the track until he pulled it out of the groove and then he picked the rod up, letting his mama back inside and ecstatic.

She kept praising him for being such a good boy and promised him 10,000 treats, because: no locksmith necessary!

After his heroic act, he got to go swimming! Treats plus pool time equals a very good day for this very good boy.

Additionally, the very good doggo got a nice swim in the family pool…all in a day in the life of a MacGuyver-esque dog!
