Tesla Rolls Out Dog Mode To Ensure Your Dog Stays Chill While Waiting

Tesla car owners will be able to keep their pups cool as cucumbers with a new feature called ‘dog mode’ that will keep the air-conditioning running while it also tells concerned passersby that your doggie is just fine.

This week, Tesla shared a new feature that came from a Twitter user last year. The feature, called ‘dog mode’ is the creation of Elon Musk, who was asked last year for the ability to not only keep pups cool while in the car, but let others who walk by know that their pooch is sitting pretty.

When the car is in dog mode, a screen in the center of the car will show people who may be concerned about the dog’s temperature that the dog is okay, their owner will be back soon and the temperature will also be displayed.

Tesla owners will tap an icon that will allow them to keep Climate on to DOG, and then to make adjustments for your pet to enjoy while your car is parked. Dog Mode stays on after you leave, and if your battery should go below a 20% charge, you’ll get a notification on your mobile device. It’s like the Jetsons evolved!

Cool as the feature is, users should still mind laws about leaving dogs in cars unattended, even if they’re probably cooler in the car than they might be outside of it (hello, southern heat and humidity!) but who knows? Musk is a pioneer; maybe this will be the new ‘mode’ included on all cars!
