The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has always been about the top dog breeds – but now, cats want in! This year, frisky felines will be joining the pooches at a special Meet and Greet event.

On Saturday, February 11, New York City goes to the dogs. And the cats. In fact, over 150 breeds will be taking on the Big Apple in “Meet & Compete,” a fun-filled, educational event that brings the public together with some of the top breeders to talk shop, pet pooches and pat pusses. That’s the “meet” part. The “compete” part is down to the best-of-the-best agility competitions that take place throughout the day and are an absolute must-do for any pet or sport enthusiast.

Make no mistake, this isn’t just any meet and greet event. It brings together the holy grails of canine clubs and programs – the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) hugely popular Meet the Breeds event, which gives pet lovers the unique opportunity to meet and play with over 150 different breeds; and the Westminster Kennel Club’s (WKC) Annual Masters Agility Championship – a competition that’s open only to dogs that have earned a Masters title in a specific field of agility!

This year’s AKC Meet the Breeds portion of the event has partnered with The International Cat Association (TICA) to include cats that pet lovers can visit, play with, and learn more about. TICA is the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigreed and household pet cats.

One daytime ticket will grant event-goers access to both AKC Meet the Breeds (February 11, 10 am to 5 pm at Piers 92 and 94) as well as the Westminster Masters Agility Championship (February 11: Preliminary rounds from 8 am to 4 pm / Finals from 7 pm to 9 pm at Pier 94). The finals will be televised on FOX Sports 1, Sunday, February 12 from 8 to 10 pm ET.

If you’re interested in attending, you can purchase tickets for Meet & Compete event on the Westminster website.
