A woman in New Orleans has become our new hero as she chose her dog over her belongings when robbers told her to make a decision.

If you’re looking for a new hero these days, meet mine: a New Orleans woman who was robbed at gunpoint and decided instantly that her dog was far more valuable to her than anything in her purse! Obviously!

According to the New Orleans Police Department, a 54-year-old woman was walking her dog in Hollygrove, Louisiana. As she walked two men on bikes came up to her, and one of the men demanded she give him her dog. One of the men had a white mask covering his face and the other was wearing a black bandana and a black hoodie.

She refused to hand her dog over, and when she said so, the man gave her the impression that he had a gun and told her she could choose to hand the dog over to him or give him her purse.

Clearly, she made the right choice and threw her purse at them. They told her and the dog to walk away, and then they rode off on their bikes. Police are still looking for the robbers in the area, but most importantly, the woman and her dog are safe and sound. Together.

Sadly, this may be a sign of a bigger problem with dog theft in the area. A report from the New Orleans Police stated that on February 25, a 9-month-old pit bull puppy named Angel was stolen from her human in an armed robbery by a man who also rode a bike up to Angel’s owner, who was walking her. Angel has not been found or returned.
