Lowes Hires Man and His Service Dog

Finally, something that actually makes us want to go to the hardware store! Lowes’ new greeter is a service dog and his human.

Now here’s something you don’t see every day (though we wish we did)!

Recently, a man came into a Lowe’s store in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, hoping to apply for a job. According to Lowes, the gentleman had had trouble finding work due to a brain injury he sustained which required him to have a service dog with him at all times.

While many employers may have turned the man away, Lowes stepped up and did anything but! Not only did they give him a job, but they gave his service dog, Blue, one as well. Blue even gets his very own Lowes work vest with his name on it. How cute is that?!

If you’re lucky enough to be in the Regina area, stop by to shake a paw with Blue and his person.

And Lowe’s — while you’re at it, can you make having dogs on staff a policy at every single one of your stores? Not only would it employ some deserving people and their service pooches, but knowing that we would get to shake paws with adorable pups like Blue would makes trips to the hardware store a lot less painful for people like me.

All kidding aside, Lowes did a great thing here and they should be commended for it. Here’s hoping that other employers will follow suit in the very near future!
