Is there a fairytale ending waiting for this adorable pooch? Our Adoptable Dog of the Week is Hansel, a 2 years old Miniature Pinscher and Australian Cattle Dog mix with a bobbed tail from Sudbury, Massachusetts. He is neutered, up to date with his shots and housetrained. Hansel needs to be the only pet in the household, but he’s good with older children.

Hansel’s Tale

This cutie patootie might not have wandered into a witch’s cabin in the woods, but he has been through a lot before being rescued. Luckily, he managed to keep his spirit intact despite his ruff past- Hansel is as loving and as sweet as they come! He’s a real cuddle bug and loves to snuggle with his foster parents and shower them in pooch smooches. In words of his rescuers, Hansel is a joy to have around, and an easy-going, kind dog.

While he does love the company of humans, Hansel has a high prey drive that makes him unsuitable for life with cats or other smaller pets around. He gets very excited and will definitely try to chase them. Additionally, Hansel doesn’t get along very well with other dogs, so it would be best for him to be an only pet. In fact, it would be ideal for him to be adopted by a family with a fenced yard, as he currently finds meeting other dogs on a leash upsetting. Hopefully, his new family would take the time to teach Hansel how to behave on a leash and help him learn how to be a confident, calm pooch during walks.

In the care of an experienced, patient owner, Hansel would truly blossom into a perfect companion. He’s friendly, cuddly, and sweet- all he needs is someone to take a chance on him. If you think you’re that person, contact Save a Dog, Inc. for more information.
