Ring-Bearing Dog Loses Wedding Rings Right Before Ceremony

Many couples include dogs in their wedding party. But when it comes to keeping the rings safe, perhaps you should give that job to someone who doesn’t jump into the lake before the ceremony!

Jeff Brines’ dog Tucker was given an important job in the wedding of Jeff’s sister, Gina. Tucker was to be the ring-bearer when Gina married her fiance, Scott, in Denver, Colorado.

Tucker, however, may not have been fully sure of what his expectations were. Just before the ceremony, he decided he needed to cool off in a beautiful lake being used as the wedding backdrop.

Brines was working the sound system and photographing the festivities, so he didn’t have his eyes on Tucker the whole time. He’d dressed Tucker up to look totes adorbs when he carried the rings at the appointed time, but right before that time came, he discovered Tucker was nowhere to be found.

The wedding started at the appointed time, and fortunately, right before the exchanging ring part of the ceremony, Tucker returned. Unfortunately, he did not return with the rings that had been carefully tired onto Tucker’s collar… plus, he was wet and stinky (but he had no problems shaking it all off).

Jeff said that he was horrified about Tucker’s unexpected dip and the loss of the rings. As soon as the ceremony was over, Jeff jumped into the lake, desperately combing the silt looking for the rings. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack, especially since Tucker wouldn’t help in the search. But the newlyweds loved Tucker and were able to move on with their big day, even if things didn’t go exactly as planned.

In fact, the couple thought the whole fiasco was kind of funny, and guests donated wedding rings to ‘stand in’ at the ceremony, which made the whole event unforgettable.

At the time of publishing this post, Jeff and his family are still looking for the rings with the help of a metal detector.

We’re pretty sure of two things: 1. This will be a day they’ll all remember forever; 2. Tucker will never be asked to be in any wedding parties again! That’s probably okay by him though, as he seems to prefer swimming over event planning!
