The Claws Come Out For These Cool Cat Cribs

A seamless décor that melds style and practicality – it’s now possible for cat lovers everywhere! Modern design gets a kitty makeover with feline-friendly furniture.

I’m pretty sure that my home is like any other multi-pet household where the “kids” take up some pretty serious real estate on the sofa when we settle in to watch TV at night. Truth be told, poor planning on my part (not making my cup of tea before I claim my seat) frequently results in me losing my coveted spot to one or more of my fleet-footed felines. Yes, the moment we stand up our pets are in like flint and (admit it!) we all tend to cave and relocate to the less desirable, less comfortable chair. What is needed isn’t a bigger sofa (though it wouldn’t hurt) or another carpeted cat-tree (yikes, no more) but a special someplace that would meet FiFi’s need to feel close and cozy as well as our desire to not have one more cat bed taking up floor space.

This is the part where I just love fellow pet-parents. They experience the problem, they identify the need and they develop a solution. Below are just a few of the pet-pleasing alternatives to giving up your seat on the sofa:

Talk about hide-in-plain-sight, the A-Frame Cat Bed is not only a scratching pad, but a sneaky little cat bed and get this, an end table where you can set your cup of tea!! It’s made by The Refined Feline and its compact design includes a cozy cushion for your pet to park it as well as a substantial, upright scratching surface. Better still, there are holes in the panel under the cushion which mean it can be placed over vents for your kit-kat to bask in heat/ac without blocking a vent. My guys just live to lay on a vent, so ticking this box is one that I can really appreciate. For the décor-conscious, the sisal scratch pad can also be swapped out for a designer carpet square so your A-Frame will always look stylish.

Another really cool end-table design comes from Latitude Run who have created a casual, hand-woven faux rattan (think Pier One style) that can slip in alongside any sofa and do double-duty; delivering the ultimate in privacy for the puss who likes to hide as well as a handy table-top for those of us who are space conscious. The unit is waterproof, easy to clean and includes a soft, washable cushion pad from which your pet can watch the world go by (or at least the feet of the world go by) as well as a 25” high table top to hold your bits and bobs.

This next option not only houses your feisty feline in style but it redirects sharp claws from upholstery to a uniquely designed scratching pad. The SkratchKabin delivers on the warm and cozy your cat craves but with its curved, textured scratching surface your beloved sofa legs will remain intact! At only 13” in height and 16” wide, it can slip under most end tables or alongside your sofa and the washable KatKushion liner and sisal toy mouse will almost certainly guarantee your feline gal-pal is entertained for at least the duration of your fave designer show.
