Often crotchety Simon Cowell had his heart melted, along with all of America, as he encountered a singing golden retriever on the hit show, America’s Got Talent.

You know Simon Cowell best for often being the fuddy-duddy when it comes to talent he comes across, whether it was in American Idol, X-Factor or his latest gig, America’s Got Talent.

In fact, it’s basically known that if you impress Simon, you’re golden. Turns out maybe Golden Retriever, as in the case of Oscar the singing dog. Oscar’s owner Pam said that she recognized the three-year-old talent had a nice tone when he ‘joined her at the piano. Motivated to encourage his talent, she ‘taught him’ to sing.

Cowell told Pam that in doing the show for a long time, he’d always said that a dog that would sing would be everything to him, and when Oscar began singing to Pam’s piano accompaniment? Cowell (and the crowd) were in disbelief.

Simon’s tough exterior was already cracking when Oscar went onstage, and it’s well-known that he does have a soft heart for pets. When Oscar finished, Cowell admitted that he was amazed and pleased, and hostess Tyra Banks couldn’t believe that Oscar was in the right key as he sang his heart out. Cowell asked if Oscar wrote is own lyrics and Pam said it was only a matter of time!

So now the question is whether or not Oscar and Pam made the final cut for this last audition round…we won’t know until next Tuesday, but if the crowd’s reaction to this sweet furry singer is any indication, we bet he could go all the way! It’s not every day a dog gets a standing ovation from Simon Cowell!
