He’s the one you love to hate, but Simon Cowell is making a big difference for dogs who languish in South Korean meat farms and donating over $30,000 to rescue over 200 dogs.

I admit it. Simon’s always been my favorite judge…whether it’s American Idol, X Factor or America’s Got Talent (or any of the other fab shows he’s on), he’s always the one I love the best. I also love Darth Vader the most, but that’s another story.

But whether you love him or hate him, Simon Cowell continues to prove he’s a dog’s best pal, as he’s shared that he will donate over $32,000 to Humane Society International (HSI) in an effort to help dogs who are stuck in South Korean meat farms.

The organization shared a Tweet that told the world Cowell’s generous donation will help save over 200 dogs and puppies. The HSI will go to South Korea in the coming days to pick up the dogs and then send them out all over the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and even the Netherlands to help rehabilitate and find them forever homes.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT: With us leaving next week to save 200+ dogs on a SK dog meat farm, TV personality @SimonCowell has agreed to match ALL donations up to £25,000! Give TODAY to have your donation matched to support this rescue & protect animals worldwide:

The tweet broke the hearts of many as it showed a mama dog and her puppies trapped, just waiting for slaughter. Cowell’s determination to make a difference for those dogs and many like them motivated many to also get involved and make donations toward helping them as well

While the good news is that the awareness of such practices in South Korea has helped the consumption of dog meat decline in popularity, still there are over 2.5 million dogs a year bred for human consumption in what HSI says are thousands of dog farms still existing. They hope that their continued efforts will encourage the South Korean government to continue to help farmers switch to more profitable farms than dog, and help them understand that they truly can end the dog meat trade.

Cowell is a well-known advocate for animals and the causes of HSI, as well as his own adorable Yorkies. He often donates time, effort and talents in addition to money to make a difference, and joins more and more celebrities who are trying to save these poor animals for a better life.

Simon, we just have to say, it’s a big fat, “YES!” from us!
