2-Legged Dog Lieutenant Dan Wins Cadbury’s Easter Bunny Contest
Not long ago, we told you about an adorable 2-legged coonhound’s quest to become the next Easter Bunny as part of Cadbury Egg’s 2020 Cadbury Bunny Tryouts. Lieutenant Dan, from Richmond, Ohio, stole our hearts and then went on to steal the hearts of the country as they voted him in to be Top Bunny.

Lieutenant Dan was born with a defect that caused his hind limbs and tail to be deformed. His hind legs couldn’t be corrected, and they were amputated so they didn’t cause him any additional pain.

But don’t feel sorry for good old Lieutenant Dan! He lives life to the fullest! H keeps his family in stitches with his hilarious personality and antics. He loves a good swim, wrestle or run just like other dogs, and he’s inspiration in fur!

Ethan Mandel is with Cadbury’s Brand team. Mandel said that Lieutenant Dan is the epitome of passion, energy and inspiration. Mandel also said that Lieutenant Dan shows that adversity CAN BE overcome!
Over 4,000 animals were entered in the contest to be Cadbury’s Easter Bunny in this, their second annual Cadbury Bunny Tryouts. Cadbury had some help narrowing the finalists down–Insta influencer Jiffpom joined and selected the 10 finalists, which included a duck, a mini horse and a llama! The competition was fur-ierce!

Laura Person is Lieutenant Dan’s human. She said her family was thrilled that America loves Lieutenant Dan as much as their family does, and they’re thrilled he’ll be the next Cadbury Bunny!

As the winner, Lieutenant Dan will get $5,000 and in his honor, Cadbury has donated $10,000 to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
