It’s been nearly a year since actress Carrie Fisher passed away, and in a touching tribute to the star, her beloved dog, Gary, has a cameo role in her last movie, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

When Carrie Fisher died last year, the world mourned the loss of it’s beloved Princess Leia. None mourned more perhaps, though, than her service dog and constant-companion Gary. Gary was with Carrie everywhere she went, and Carrie said he was her emotional rock.

Gary now resides with Carrie’s assistant, Corby McCoin, but still pays tribute to his dearly-missed mama in the most unique way–a cameo appearance in her last film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The movie debuts on December 14, which is about two weeks before the one-year anniversary of her death.

A Star Wars fan-extraordinaire recognized Gary in a promotional picture that was printed in Empire Magazine, and tweeted director Rian Johnson for confirmation.

@rianjohnson we @FanthaTracks want to know if you can confirm this cute little creature is in pic.twitter.com/0if7XRiqog

Surprisingly, Johnson tweeted back, confirming indeed that the odd-little alien character was Gary, and was paying tribute to his mistress.

YES! Wow, good eyes.

Fans still keep up with Gary on his Instagram account, and are now very much looking forward to seeing his mama in her last movie.
