Corporal Josh Coleman with the Department says that Nitro, a two-year-old Dutch Shepherd who joined the unit in February, wanted to show his muscles with his human counterparts, and in doing so, has sent the interwebs aflutter with mad love for the canine crime-fighter.

In the Facebook video, Nitro is jazzed by the music from Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger’ and participating in a ‘warm up’ for a nightly routine that the police department is looking to promote.

The routine is a simple reminder to take valuables out of the car and to lock your car up at night. Corporal Coleman says the “9 p.m. routine” is a big hit in their community, and a great reminder that you can prevent vehicle thefts of unlocked cars 100% of the time simply by locking your car each night.

Sargeant Greg Bobo is the overseer of the Gulf Shores K-9 unit and its four dogs, and he believes that this video reinforces a prevention method he really believes in with police members he really believes in as well.

So the question is whether or not I should be embarrassed that a dog does better pushups than I do? Nah, he’s clearly a professional!
