If you’re a dog owner, you can get behind pretty much every day being National Puppy Day, amirite? But, so we can celebrate our little love bugs even more, National Puppy Day is a way to shower the furry friends in our lives with a little extra TLC.

To celebrate, Trupanion has combed its database of over 500,000 insured pets throughout Canada and the United States and given a list of the most popular dog names. You might be surprised to know Luna topped the puppy moniker list for 2019, Why surprised? Because when Trupanion looked back over the last decade, Luna didn’t even make the top 20 list for names!

The pupular gal dog name Bella made its way back to the number two spot this year, after taking slight dips in 2017 and 2018. Bella always runs neck and neck with the ever-loving Charlie but this year, the girls squeaked by!

As is always the case, when new names rise, others have to fall and that was the case for Lola (she was a showgirl) and Molly. In 2009, Molly was in the top 5, but just ten years later, she’s down to number 15. Lola was in the top 10 last year but got edged out.Popular Puppy Names To Celebrate National Puppy Day

Trupanion has also compiled their most ‘unique’ insured dog names and we have to say, some of them rock our socks off! Consider Mia Sparrow, a Lab or Raisin Cain, a MinPin. Cookie Diablo (a Yorkie) was joined by Glee (A French Bulldog) and our favorite of the most unique is Beatrix Hollywoof (another Yorkie).
