Dog Rescued From Burning House Gets New Firefighter Daddy
A North Carolina dog rescued from a burning house is thanking his lucky rescue team as he has been adopted by a local firefighter.
Katie the retriever was the victim of an unfortunate armed robbery that ended with her being stuck inside a house that was set on fire. Wilmington, North Carolina police responded to a call that was a suspected armed robbery attempt and when they arrived, the 26-year-old alleged robber had locked himself inside the home he was burgling.
Police say that before they were able to take him into custody, though, he set the home on fire, and Katie was inside. Wilmington Firefighters Pfeffer and Richardson looked through the house in a primary search and discovered poor sweet Katie in a back room. She had been trying to hide from the onslaught of smoke and her body was simply being overwhelmed by the toxic fumes.
They rescued her and brought her outside into the fresh air, where Wilmington Firefighter Bransford gave medical treatment to her. They then transported her to a local emergency animal hospital, where she was treated for smoke inhalation.
